'A Gardener believes in Tomorrow'
Behind the figure is darkness with all its worries and fears. But a strand of ivy hints at strength and resilience. And she is not alone, because on her head is a robin - the 'gardener's friend' - and one of the first birds to sing in the morning.
The figure is looking forwards into the sunrise, clutching a slender shoot in her hands. Within its delicateness rests the hope that it will flourish and provide colour, well into the future.
She imagines the stem turning into Morning Glory - the plant of renewal and awakening. Also there is a lupin (symbolising fortitude), pink dianthus (gratitude), candelabra primrose (renewal), lavender (calmness and healing), pink daisies (new beginnings and cheerfulness), while pink rununculus represents love and sweetness.
To be a gardener is surely to be an optimist for the future?
