BOO

NOT OR But.....

I am not a lover of Hindsight.

Hindsight being what might have been, if only you'd chosen better.

I have chatted to friends who can pinpoint exactly when they have made a weighty decision in their lives, and now fervently wish they could return, like a Time Traveller, to make a different choice - so that now their lives would be different, and presumably, better.

Hindsight makes them gloomy.

But why waste time torturing yourself over that? Every decision has consequences. Why over-analyse? Going round in circles, clockwise and then anticlockwise, again and again, only puts you in a lather. And all bubbles have to pop eventually.

Besides, Hindsight is the spoilsport of Spontaneity. And where is the fun in that? Surely you can make a split-second decision based on nothing-much, now and again?

To constantly need to consider the pros and cons of endless options smacks of indecisiveness, and is tiresome, lack-lustre and plain boring.

Groan.

If you find decision-making difficult, you can practise with one of those fictional Hindsight books. You know, the ones where you turn to page 38 if you think the person should do this, or turn to page 102 if you think the person should do that?

Personally, I'm not a fan of fictional Hindsight. I have only tried this once. My decision-making in a lengthy read only amounted to 30 pages. Bad decisions on my part? Maybe. But I felt short-changed. 30 pages for £8.99. And I just couldn't force myself to go with a more lengthy alternative!

No, you can keep your angst over Hindsight. I prefer to live with my choices.

However, I can switch to Daydreaming! I can use Daydreaming endlessly. Not for a full 24 hours, obviously! Practical things like shopping & cooking need to occupy some of my time.

I daydream about what-ifs. My Imagination fascinates me! I expect all creative types have the luxury of their Imagination.

But if you're lacking in the Imagination department, worry not, coz I'm reminded of the saying, Life always gives you a second chance. It's called Tomorrow.

So let's all boo Hindsight then, and lighten up!
