Puppy's First Christmas

I was going to give you an update on Hebe-the-dog, and our preparations for Puppy's 1st Christmas. But this has been overshadowed when Santa's little elf decreed yesterday that Christmas was cancelled!

How tentative plans, erring on the fingers-and-toes-crossed policy, have been so effectively squashed. Bubbles burst.

So, no visits from family, although 4 turkey legs are being posted to me. My son had a cunning plan to stuff them for Xmas dinner. I was dubious. I have usually bought a turkey crown - ie the bird minus the legs!

And presents have been wrapped in readiness and are hidden in the spare room.

And interesting chocolate bars have been bought for me and my guests. And Hebe hasn't been left out. Knowing that chocolate is poisonous for dogs, she has, instead, her own bag of salt-your-own crisps (minus the salt bag). An annual treat my sis buys for her dogs. They love the rustle of the bag, the excited rummage and then the satisfying crunch!

And Hebe has been looking forward to receiving our guests. She has been checking their beds - daily - tossing the pillows to plump them up, and zooming the length of each bed with her eyes all asparkle. She had obviously believed me when I'd said, 'They'll be here soon!'

But, alas, on the 6th day before Christmas, the naughty elf sent to me:

6 bubbles burst,

5 bars of chocolate

4 turkey legs (in transit)

3 presents waiting

2 lonely souls (me & Heebz)

and (hopefully) one Santa smiling under his PPE.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
