I suppose I should report back on my recent Screenprinting Class.
That's my effort above. I don't expect you to be impressed - I wasn't! But if you don't make mistakes then you don't learn how to fix things & then make improvements. I think that's what you call Progress.
To recap: the screenprinting class was composed of 6 people & a tutor. 3 young folk and I was in the other group. We all had very different ideas on what we wanted to produce.
I had a really good image in my head of a cute, ordered Bento Box. But that really good image kinda got lost along the way, and did not replicate itself onto paper!
But I learnt a lot about the process of screenprinting from buddying up with different people over the 2 days. The tutor rightly decided we'd be constantly reminding each other of what to do next, and so reinforce her instructions. And that certainly worked.
Next time I will spend more time on the drawing - obviously - and also on thinking out the coloured layers, before printing. Because the actual printing is super-quick! There is a lot of practical work in getting the screen prepared for printing but I totally enjoyed using the pressure washer (and chemicals) to remove the screen image!
I shall have to go back. I've swapped mobile numbers with very keen classmates. They are blissfully unaware of the scary, still-haunting prequel: It's Autumn on Deeside.
*above is a very cute Bento Box : )
