Well I've moved!
Already 14 days at my new place. Still a mighty amount of boxes to unpack AND new layout to plan AND joiners, plumbers & electricians to organise! But I love it!
I have unpacked 35 boxes. I know this for sure because they are forming make-shift walls in my open-plan living area. I didn't realise that I would still find empty boxes so entertaining! The grandkids are visiting in 2 weeks - so I hope they experience the same joy!
These temporary walls have been moved at will, as I try to incorporate a studio into my new plan. What a luxury to have a proper inside studio space! No more baltic conditions in my garden art shed. No more encounters with that menacing Charlie spider. No more reasons not to work in earnest!
To recap a bit: I was so organised the day before the move. All boxes labelled; essential boxes clearly marked; even sandwiches made.
Then that smugness bumped into reality when I went to collect the new keys from the estate agent. I was sharply informed that the keys were not due to be released until the following day. 'People don't exchange on a Thursday.' YOU WHAT? Major blood pressure spike. 50+ hairs whitened. Body shook.
But I had a laden furniture van with burly men anxious to get home to Caithness for their tea, and I was homeless? 15 mins after a frantic call to my solicitor, I was given the keys. Phew!!
Could have done without all that.
But worse - almost - the next day, when I looked for my router etc - diligently checking the labels of all Livingroom and Back Bedroom boxes, was the realisation that my router, printer and all cables pertaining to them, were still in the cupboard of the desk, which I'd left behind for the new owners, in Inverness.
So much for being organised!
The new folk didn't realise the extent of my dilemma and so it took longer to get back online.
But now it's 14 days on and I'm looking forwards not backwards. I'm looking forward to all things new.
How wonderfully exciting!
